*EDI – Electronic Data Interchange standards. The National Institute of Standards and Technology defines Electronic Data Interchange as the computer-to-computer exchange of strictly formatted messages representing documents other than monetary instruments. EDI is a sequence of messages between two trading partners (such as customers and suppliers), either of whom may serve as the sender or the recipient.
