Date: 14 Nov 2008 Builders and plumbers merchant John Nicholls is having success targeting the green sector. Whilst not expecting the market to really boom for some years to come, John Nicholls is busy raising its profile and customer awareness with a range of eco products. The Oxfordshire-based merchant, a bisTrack user since 2007, thought long and hard before jumping on the green bandwagon and has taken steps to really research the market. They recently held an eco open day at their Banbury branch, which was well supported by suppliers, trade and public. Managing director David Hebdon said: "We can build our market by educating our customers and end users about these products and how they can be used. That's what it's aboiut really." The team are looking to capitalise on insulation, lighting and solar heating — products that are easily recognisable and offer obvious benefits. They see the increase in eco trade to be driven more by end users than trade, and feel it important to build on awareness to make them the first port of call when the need arises. A key date will be 2016 when the Code for Sustainable Homes Level Six takes effect, when demand for greener building products is expected to ramp up considerably. John Nicholls, for one, aim to be there to satisfy that demand. More:
