Date: 14 Apr 2008 A leading independent supplier of timber and building materials, George Hill, has become one of the latest merchants to implement bisTrack software. bisTrack goes live across all George Hill branches in May 2008. Company Secretary Jayne Hill, the great granddaughter of the company’s founder, explained why a Microsoft Windows based system was her primary requirement. She said, “When I was given the task of sourcing a new computer system, I knew I wanted a full Windows product, rather than a system which has a Windows ‘front end’ bolted on to a character based legacy system.” Jayne knew bisTrack was right for George Hill after a demonstration by Progressive’s Director of Sales, Arthur Duffy. He explained, “As soon as we had an in-depth understanding of George Hill’s business, we knew bisTrack would address all of the company’s required functionality. bisTrack is developed completely in Microsoft architecture, it offers easy and instant access to all the information it holds and interfaces seamlessly with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Excel.” George Hill employs 68 staff and has branches in Bolton, Sale and Nelson. The company also operates its own mill at its main site in Oldham where timber is cut and treated and a wide range of mouldings are produced. Jayne added, “bistrack is up-to-date and I believe it’s the right way forward for us. We need a system which is easy to use, lets us find information and documents instantly and which allows me to produce reports very quickly.”
