We welcomed Jennifer Daubeny, the Counsellor of Trade, Investment, Science and Technology, who is in the UK to promote Canada's trade and economic interests, and to support the efforts of Canadian companies who have products, services or technologies to offer. Progressive Solutions International is Canadian owned and one of only a handful of successes for inward investment in the Northwest. It is seen as a successful example that could be followed by other technology companies. Managing director Arthur Duffy said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Ms. Daubeny to Progressive House and to demonstrate why our Canadian board continues to invest in the region. Northwest England is an ideal location for our business and the decision to site a new service and development centre at the Heath Technical and Business Park in Halton and the creation of a number of new jobs reflects Progressive Solutions strong performance and ambitions for growth.” Progressive are a growing business strategically positioned in Northwest England, which provides significant economic, infrastructure and employee advantages in the UK. The area also provides a platform for any expanded European activity that will in turn bring further investment into the region. Now working out of newly-built premises on The Heath Business Park, the company has been based in the UK since 2002, when they first heard about a small group of software developers, with a niche supplying software solutions in the construction sector. Spotting an opportunity for growth, the UK company was quickly snapped up, establishing a base for the Canadian parent in the UK. Since that time Progressive has grown and expanded, now employing around 30 IT professionals and supporting staff. The company is actively recruiting at the moment to fill a number of key roles, to support its ambitious plans for the future.
