Directions, currency conversion, employment law, weather, sports fixtures, technical data, holidays, our bank balance – today we can access information about anything we need to enhance our business or personal lives via the internet – within seconds – to enhance our personal lives.

Two specific internet based data sources we like, which work fast and efficiently, are PostCode Anywhere and e-Xact Product Catalogues.

In fact we like them so much we developed interfaces to enable merchants to access them via our bisTrack management software! This means that merchants who use bisTrack can run post code searches or address finder and auto-completion while they are working in bisTrack, safe in the knowledge that the information they are entering into their system is completely accurate.The team behind Postcode Anywhere now offers 250 web services offering a broad range of business efficiency tools from address and data capture, validation and mail list cleansing to geo-coding, mapping and route planning.

Since their introduction of a new pay per click pricing model the service is now very flexible and cost effective for merchants. e-Xact is an ‘on-line construction product database’ and holds a raft of product related information on more than 150,000 products including codes, images and literature, as well as associated information such as environmental accreditations. Before its existence we had to research this type of data via manufacturers or industry bodies. The time saved by having it stored around the product in a central resource from where it can be provided to staff and customers in seconds is simply staggering!

As with the Postcode Anywhere, e-Xact data is well managed, accurate and up to date. bisTrack users who subscribe to e-Xact can use bisTrack’s eBusiness interface to move products between e-Xact’s catalogue and bisTrack itself. This gives them access to thousands more products outside of their main product file – without impacting on bisTrack’s performance.

We think using technology which allows you to access good quality, consistent data is what separates an ordinary business from a successful one. It underpins good customer service, and is key to providing the intelligence that puts a business ahead of its competitors.
