Canadian envoy visits town firm
A SPECIAL envoy of the Canadian government has paid a visit to a flourishing Runcorn firm. Jennifer Daubeny, counsellor of trade, investment, science and technology for the High Commission of Canada, headed to Progressive Solutions at The Heath Business Park for a tour of the facility.
The company is Canadian-owned and one of only a handful of successes for inward invest-ment by Canadian companies in the North West.
Managing director Arthur Duffy said: "It was a pleasure to welcome her to Progressive House and to demonstrate why our Canadian board continues to invest in the region. "North West England is an ideal location for our business and the decision to site a new service and development centre at The Heath and the creation of a number of new jobs reflects our strong performance and ambitions for growth."
Now working out of newly-built premises on The Heath Business Park, the company has been based in the UK since 2002, when Progressive Solutions heard about a small Runcorn-based group of software developers who had a niche business supplying software for the construction industry.
Spotting this opportunity for growth, the company was quickly snapped up, thus establishing a base for the Canadian parent in the UK.
Since then Progressive Solutions has expanded and now employs around 30 IT professionals and support staff.
The company is recruiting at the moment to fill a number of key roles, to support its am¬bitious expansion plans for the future.
